Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Locksmith Umhlanga website and services. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding.

Agreement to Terms

By accessing our website, requesting a quote, or engaging our locksmith services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our website or services. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Our Services

Locksmith Umhlanga provides professional locksmith services in the Umhlanga, Durban North, and surrounding areas, including but not limited to:

  • Emergency lockout assistance for residential, commercial, and automotive properties.
  • Lock installation, repair, replacement, and rekeying.
  • Key cutting and duplication, including transponder and high-security keys.
  • Smart lock and access control system installation and maintenance.
  • Security upgrades and consultations.
  • Safe opening, repair, and installation.

All services are provided by qualified and experienced locksmith technicians. We reserve the right to refuse service at our discretion if we believe a request may be unlawful or compromise the security of a property.

Pricing & Payment

All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR). Our pricing structure is as follows:

  • Call-Out Fee: A minimum call-out fee of R450 applies to all service requests. This fee covers the technician's travel and initial assessment.
  • Labour & Parts: Labour charges and parts costs are quoted upfront before work begins. You will receive a clear quote and must approve it before we proceed.
  • No Hidden Fees: We believe in transparent pricing. The quoted price is the price you pay, unless additional work is required and approved by you.

Payment is due upon completion of service. We accept cash, EFT, and card payments. For larger projects, a deposit may be required before work commences.

Emergency Services

We provide 24/7 emergency locksmith services. Please note the following regarding after-hours and emergency services:

  • After-Hours Surcharge: Services requested outside of standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00) may incur an additional surcharge of up to 30%.
  • Weekend Surcharge: Services requested on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) may incur a surcharge of up to 30%.
  • Public Holiday Surcharge: Services requested on South African public holidays may incur a surcharge of up to 50%.
  • Response Time: We aim to arrive within 30 minutes for emergency calls within our primary service area, subject to availability and traffic conditions.

Service Guarantee

We stand behind the quality of our work. All locksmith services carried out by Locksmith Umhlanga come with a 7-day workmanship guarantee from the date of service. If you experience any issues with work we have performed within this period, we will return to rectify the problem at no additional charge. This guarantee covers labour and workmanship only; it does not cover damage caused by misuse, tampering, or third-party interference after our service has been completed.

Cancellation

You may cancel a service request at any time before the technician arrives at your location at no charge. If the technician has already been dispatched and is en route, a cancellation fee equivalent to the call-out fee may apply. Once work has commenced, full payment for services rendered up to the point of cancellation is required.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Locksmith Umhlanga shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We take every reasonable precaution to prevent damage to your property during service. In the unlikely event that damage occurs as a direct result of our work, we will repair or compensate for the damage, subject to fair assessment.

Property Access

For security purposes, we require proof of ownership or authorisation before providing locksmith services to any property or vehicle. Acceptable forms of identification and authorisation include:

  • Valid South African ID or driver's licence.
  • Vehicle registration documents (for automotive services).
  • Proof of property ownership or a signed letter of authorisation from the property owner.
  • Lease agreement or tenant documentation.

We reserve the right to refuse service if satisfactory proof of ownership or authorisation cannot be provided. This policy exists to protect property owners from unauthorised access.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Both parties agree to attempt to resolve any disputes through good-faith negotiation before resorting to formal legal proceedings.
